Thank you so much for the class snacks, Valentine's Day treats and gifts for our class celebration.  We really appreciate your kindness.
     First grade will be hosting a PARENT UNIVERSITY class on February 22nd at 6:00 PM.  During this session we will discuss various strategies for you to use at home to grow your child as a reader! Please mark your calendars and make plans to attend.  We are looking forward to seeing each and everyone of you here.  CHILDCARE WILL BE PROVIDED and the session should last only one hour.
     Please mark your calendars and make note of the make up days for our snow days.  Next Monday, February 21st will be a regular school day.   

 

Please continue to review no excuse words with your children.

We will have a recognition test on these words on Friday.

In math, we will continue our next unit on “Graphing”. We will construct graphs and interpret the data from the graphs by comparing how many fewer, more and the total in all. 

READING

We will read "Did You See Chip?"  We will summarize a story by identifying the main character and supporting characters, the problem and solution in a story, make words with the /ar/ spelled -ar and, identify nouns as the name of persons, places, things and animals and identify synonyms as words that have the same meaning. 

We will begin our Health unit on Healthy Foods. We will identify the components of the Food Guide Pyramid, foods that are healthy for you and the benefits of eating healthy foods.
